Bridgestone is committed to ensuring that future generations inherit a more sustainable society. From land conservation to the advancement of material circularity in our products, this commitment shapes our three key sustainability objectives.
1. IN HARMONY WITH NATURE
We've embraced the vital task of safeguarding biodiversity by enhancing habitats on our owned lands, championing environmental education programs and fostering innovative environmental research and operations within our R&D facilities. Moreover and in 2023, six of our tire facilities proudly hold zero-waste-to-landfill status. Our commitment extends to water conservation initiatives, widespread tree planting efforts, and nurturing The Woodlawn Wildlife Area, a habitat we restored on a former landfill site in rural Maryland.
2. VALUE NATURAL RESOURCES
To reduce natural resource use in our tires and products, we prioritize innovative design. We even use Guayule in the sidewalls of Firestone Firehawk Race Tires for the IndyCar circuit to help bring sustainability to innovations in high-performance. Looking ahead, we're dedicated to advancing a circular economy, aiming for a 40% recycled materials rate by 2030 and a full transition to renewable and recycled recyclable materials by 2050.
3. REDUCE CO2 EMISSIONS
We’re dedicated to minimizing environmental impact by reducing emissions across our tire and product operations. Our ambitious goal entails slashing CO2 emissions by 50% before 2030 and ultimately achieving complete carbon neutrality by 2050. This practice applies beyond just more eco conscious tire operations, emphasizing a holistic approach to sustainability that resonates throughout the long-lasting lifecycle of our products.
